ProNaturaleza (English)

Founded in 1984, ProNaturaleza- Peruvian Foundation for the Nature Conservancy is a non-profit private organization that has as its main objective to contribute to the preservation of Peru's natural patrimony, focusing specially on the biological diversity by promoting sustainable activities that will improve the life quality of all Peruvians. Also, it is one of the oldest, active and important environmental organizations in Peru.

ProNaturaleza starts due to the initiative of three teachers from the National Agrarian University (Peru): Manuel Ríos Rodríguez, Carlos F. Ponce del Prado (R.I.P) and Dr. Marc Dourojeanni. They had the drive to create an institution that would undertake the topics of conservation of biological diversity, through an active presence on the field that would create a conscience about the importance of natural patrimonies.

Nowadays ProNaturaleza runs several projects distributed in key regions in order to preserve the country's biological diversity. The institution is also actively involved in the design of environmental politics in its highest level, participating in the elaboration of a number of laws related to nature and the environment.

We have a team with educators, biologists, anthropologists, engineers, sociologists, communicators and even philosophers, committed to the ambitious challenges of preserving the biological diversity and the sustainable development in Peru.

Mission

To contribute to the conservation of Peru's natural patrimony, especially to its biodiversity, propitiating sustainable development and life quality improvement of every Peruvian.

To promote and execute the necessary tasks to secure nature's conservancy in the country , maintaining the biological diversity, the sustainable use of species and ecosystems, and the development of a culture based on conservation within the society of the country.
